What is diabetes?
It is a metabolic disease that is recognized by high glucose levels in the blood. The pancreas produces insulin which is used to convert glucose (sugar) into glycogen (stored sugar). Diabetes is associated with either not enough insulin or no insulin. Diabetes cannot be cured, but can be maintained. Below are the symptoms of diabetes:
There are two types of Diabetes:
Type 1 Diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes is when your body produces little to no insulin to take up the glucose, this is when you require insulin injections to live a normal life.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is the most common, if you have type 2 your pancreas produces insulin but your body is unable to convert the glucose to glycogen.
