Why do we cough?
We all know that coughs are involuntary actions, once it starts it’s really hard to avoid. We cough in order to clear our breathing pathways from any particles.
There are two main types of coughs:
Dry coughs can be caused by many things, if you are not a smoker and there is no sign of a flu, then the reason for your dry cough could be:
Irritation from dust in the air, Allergies, Post-nasal drip, Asthma
Having a wet cough means that you have phlegm/mucus in your chest and throat, wet coughs are usually associated with chest/throat infections and the common cold.
Wet coughs are less common than dry coughs, as wet coughs are a sign of infection. If you have a wet cough that contains blood you should seek immediate medical attention at your local GP.
